One of the most spectacular athletes in the NFL, Byron Jones was a phenomenon at the NFL Combine out of college and was projected to multiple positions in the secondary at the time. His NFL career has been a little more complex than that, though, and it seems as if he might actually have a more defined role than simply ‘any secondary position in need of an athlete.’
Jones began his career as a safety before transitioning to cornerback once Dallas shifted its defensive scheme toward a system that coveted bigger, longer Seattle-style cornerbacks. In that role, Jones played his best football, though he hasn’t quite developed as it once looked like he might.
