Like father like son: Larry Allen Jr. motivated to set his own path with Cowboys

FRISCO -- Moments after Larry Allen Jr. agreed to sign with the Cowboys he picked up the cell to call his father, making him no different than most athletes who landed with a team in the aftermath of the draft.

What made this call different is that Allen's father, one of the greatest players in NFL history, played for the Cowboys.

"How 'bout them Cowboys," Larry Allen Sr. shouted into the phone.

"He was so excited, so excited for me to get going and do this on my own," Allen recalled Friday afternoon as he stood in the Cowboys locker room at The Star.
