The Cowboys owner and general manager has seen Michael Irvin, Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Larry Allen rise from young players to Hall of Famers with the Cowboys. He has seen Jason Witten develop from a third-round pick to the franchise leader in receptions. He has seen Tony Romo go from an undrafted afterthought to the franchise’s all-time leading passer.
But each of those players required time and seasoning.
