IRVING — The Dallas Cowboys made a move Monday to upgrade their offensive line depth by claiming right tackle Jordan Mills off of waivers from Chicago.
To make room for the addition of Mills on the 53-man roster, the Cowboys waived veteran linebacker Jasper Brinkley. The Cowboys guaranteed Brinkley $2 million in his two-year, $6.5 million deal he signed as a free agent in the offseason.
Brinkley was set to be the Cowboys’ primary backup at middle linebacker when training camp started but he struggled throughout the preseason.
Mills (6-5, 316), a fifth-round pick in 2013 out of Louisiana Tech, started 29 games over his first two NFL seasons for the Bears.
