Cowboys' trade fix for sinking defense is staring Jerry Jones right in the face

There is an endless list of stats that paint the Dallas Cowboys' defense as the worst in football. Perhaps the most embarrassing nugget is that they never got the ball back against the Panthers after punting the ball with just over six minutes left in Sunday's game.

It's not like Carolina beat Dallas with explosive plays. Rico Dowdle ripped 6.1 yards per carry on his 30 rushing attempts. It was death by a thousand body punches, which is far more embarrassing than what unfolded against Russell Wilson and the Giants in Week 2.
