Cowboys teammates, coaches laud OL Joe Looney’s prank: ‘It’s stuff like this we’re going to remember’

FRISCO -- Joe Looney walked onto the field for Cowboys practice Wednesday wearing his own No. 73 jersey. And it was news.

"Can't I just be me today?" he quipped.

The reserve offensive lineman hadn't yet been himself, in a sense, at a Frisco training camp practice. He taped a No. 4 to his jersey Monday acting like quarterback Dak Prescott as he took the field. Looney then wore Ezekiel Elliott's practice jersey - a tight fit for the 6-3, 315-pound center - as he emerged in front of a wall of linemen Tuesday. Miming Elliott's "feed me" gesture, Looney fooled fans into thinking he was the star running back, despite standing three inches taller and nearly 90 pounds heavier.
