Cowboys rookie LB Leighton Vander Esch wins NFC Defensive Player of the Week

Leighton Vander Esch had his breakout game in Dallas' 27-20 win against the Philadelphia Eagles and the NFL took notice. The Cowboys rookie linebacker was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. The Cowboys selected Vander Esch with the No. 19 pick in the 2018 NFL draft.

Vander Esch racked up a career-high 13 tackles and his first interception against the EAagles. One of those tackles was arguably the play of the game.

On third-and-2 in the fourth quarter, the Cowboys' first-round pick read screen pass off the snap. Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz complete a pass to the right flat to running back Corey Clement.
