Cowboys players remain silent on Jerry Jones' national anthem edict

FRISCO - Cowboys players are not speaking out about how they feel about team owner Jerry Jones' recent edict that all players will stand for the national anthem or be benched. But it was not business as usual Wednesday at The Star.

During a pre-scheduled media availability in the locker room, most players, including quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott, declined to talk about what had been discussed amongst the team in meetings. Jones met with the team before the locker room opened to reporters.

"It was a private meeting we had we can't really speak on it," said defensive end David Irving, one of two Cowboys players who have raised fists at the conclusion of the anthem.
