FRISCO, Texas -- Carl Cheffers was the referee in Super Bowl LI, and he will open the 2017 season calling Sunday’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants.
This time, however, he will be with his normal crew. For the Super Bowl, he worked with an all-star crew.
It will be the second straight Cowboys-Giants game Cheffers will call. He worked the Week 14 contest last season at MetLife Stadium in which the Cowboys lost 10-7. The Cowboys were penalized five times for 54 yards, and the Giants had seven penalties for 50 yards with 13 total penalties (12 accepted)
Since 2010, the Cowboys are 3-2 with Cheffers as the referee.
