Cowboys draft pick Tyler Guyton reveals Commanders and Patriots wanted to trade up for him

The Dallas Cowboys threaded a needle during the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. When their original turn came the Cowboys assessed the board and felt like taking the Detroit Lions offer to move back five spots was worth it given the players still available to them. Five spots is five spots, but when you like a handful of guys at that spot the odds are in your favor.

As we know, the Cowboys agreed to trade with the Lions and moved down five spots while netting pick number 73 in the process (they also sent Detroit their 2025 seventh-round pick).
