NFLPA Files Motion In Attempt To Continue To Allow Ezekiel Elliott To Play

Ezekiel Elliott's lawyers and the NFLPA have filed an emergency motion for an injuction pending appeal, hoping to set in motion a series of events that will allow the Dallas Cowboys running back to continue playing, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Elliott lost his previous appeal yesterday as the judge as dissolved the temporary restraining order he was playing under. As such, Elliott's six-game domestic violence investigation will be reinstated unless the NFLPA is successful.

The NFLPA's argument for the emergency motion in three-pronged. First, they say Elliott will suffer irreparable harm, while the NFL has admitted it will not. Then, they argue that their evidence shows a great chance of success and that it is in the "public interest" for Elliott to continue player under the injunction pending appeal.

If Judge Failla denies the emergency motion, the NFLPA plans to go to the Second Circuit asking for the injunction pending appeal in that court.

The motion asks for Judge Failla to reach a decision by 7:00 pm ET on Wednesday, or else they will take their case directly to the Second Circuit.

If Elliott does get suspended, Dallas has a plan for using both backups Alfred Morris and Darren McFadden in the backfield.

Elliott has rushed for 690 yards and six touchdowns on 164 carries so far this season while also catching 19 passes for 210 yards and two more scores.
