Baylor Head Coach Art Briles Thinks Dallas Cowboys Would Be A "Perfect Fit" For Robert Griffin III

Robert Griffin III won a Heisman trophy under Baylor Bears head coach Art Briles, and with RGIII's future in question, Briles has decided to weigh in. He told the Dallas Morning News that a return to Texas to play for the Dallas Cowboys would help Griffin return to being a very good NFL quarterback.

“You could have a dream. That would probably be making it come true,” Briles said. “That would be a great place for him. It’s a great organization; being back in Texas and with the Cowboys and having a chance to get in there under Romo for three years. Not that they need to sell tickets, but it wouldn’t hurt ticket sales.

“He’s a guy who kind of puts his own thoughts out there. He understands perseverance. He understands dedication. He understands commitment and he’s a guy that has been at an elite level for such a long time a minor setback like this certainly won’t deter any of his plan of action over the next few years. He’s going to end up being what he always could be and that’s one of the best guys on the field.”

Briles' statement is similar to the one former Cowboys quarterback and FOX Sports analyst Troy Aikman told SI.com earlier this week, saying he expected Griffin or Johnny Manziel to be Dallas' backup QB next year.

The Cowboys have expressed interest in bringing in Griffin, but the Washington Redskins still have him under contract for next season. However, Washington is widely expected to cut RGIII, who lost his starting job to Kirk Cousins this season.

It remains to be seen if Griffin would be on board with being a backup, but if so, Dallas does make a lot of sense for the 25-year-old.
