Trending Cowboys News: Outdated strength program could be causing Cowboys injuries

In today's Cowboys news update, the Dallas Cowboys' strength and conditioning program could be doing more to hurt the team than help it.

Per Zac Clark of Yahoo! Sports, head coach Jason Garrett inferred to the Dallas Morning News that the coaching staff may be employing antiquated techniques when it comes to training the team's players:

Typically, we’ve done kind of the old team stretch, and we’re experimenting with dynamic warm-up stuff that I’ve done in my past, other coaches have done in the past. You try to be innovative, you try to evolve, you get feedback from the players, you get feedback from the coaches. We just try to help our players get themselves more ready to practice and hopefully stay healthier over time.”

"Experimenting with dynamic warm-up stuff?"

According to most NFL strength and conditioning coaches, dynamic warm-up are essential to all workouts because, as Clark states, "it increases blood flow, elevates core temperature and activates the nervous system connection between brain and muscles."

If the Cowboys are indeed as behind on this as it seems they are, it could very well be part of the reason why the team as seen a rash of muscle strains over the past couple of seasons.
