Cowboys News: Orlando Scandrick Suspension Update, Status For Sunday At Tennessee?

In this Cowboys news and rumors update, NFLPA representatives voted in favor of adopting a revised league drug policy on Friday evening, perhaps setting things up for a quick return to action for Dallas Cowboys starting cornerback Orlando Scandrick.

Scandrick's return date is still up in the air, however, because the new system has yet to be finalized and adopted by the NFL.

“We have not yet reached an agreement with the union on revisions to our drug programs,” NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello stated late Friday night on Twitter, via Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News. “There continue to be significant unresolved issues.”

Scandrick currently lives in California and would reportedly be ready to go for Sunday's contest at the Tennessee Titans if called upon. However, the defensive back's return date could still be a matter of speculation until as late as next week.

Testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance after taking MDMA (also known as "Molly") cut with an amphetamine during a vacation to Mexico back in April, Scandrick was subsequently suspended for the first four games of the 2014 season under the league's performance enhancing drug policy.

Under the revised rules, a first-time positive for amphetamines would be handled under the league's substance abuse policy instead, and wouldn't carry a suspension for an initial infraction.
