Cowboys News: Head coach Jason Garrett says "continuity" key to Cowboys' success

In Cowboys news today, Dallas Cowboys' head coach Jason Garrett seems to be quite pleased with the direction that the Cowboys' coaching staff is heading in.

Yesterday, former defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin was officially demoted to an assistant head coaching role with a focus on defense. Former Lions' head coach Rod Marinelli is now the Cowboys' defensive coordinator, after spending 2013 as their defensive line coach. To add to the shuffle, former Rams' head coach Scott Linehan was signed earlier this week to serve as the offensive play-caller in the Big D.

With all of these changes, Cowboys' coach Jason Garrett still believes that the team is embracing "continuity." Speaking with reporters earlier today, Garrett stated that "the transition to Scott will be relatively smooth," adding later that he believes "the same thing on defense."

Later in the media session, Garrett summed his philosophy on the Cowboys' coaching moves--"The system is in place and we'll continue to grow. Roles change but freshness is viewed as a positive."

NFL analysts see a lot of similarities in the coaching styles of Jason Garrett and Scott Linehan, and if they can use that to their advantage, Garrett's job may be safer than originally thought.
