The Dallas Cowboys suffered through an unusually large amount of injuries last season, and that caused them to fall from the favorite in the NFC East to finishing with the fourth-worst record in the NFL. However, now that they're healthy, this team has their sights set on returning to the playoffs and winning the Super Bowl. Here are four reasons why they're guaranteed to make it back to the postseason:
4) Byron Jones' breakout season
Jones is a super athlete that has the cover skills of a cornerback, but cemented himself as a starting safety in his rookie season. He racked up 66 tackles and deflected eight passes while still learning the scheme - but he really stepped his game up at the end of the season. Dallas may rotate him between safety and cornerback this year, and he'll be successful where ever he plays. Look for him to become one of the most impactful players on the team this season.
3) Elite offensive weapons
We all know what Dez Bryant and Jason Witten can do as receivers, but now that the Cowboys added Ezekiel Elliott to their backfield, their offense can be unstoppable. An ideal combination of speed and power, Elliott has never been brought down by an arm tackle and was never caught from behind at the college level. His excellent vision allows him to find the hole, and he has the patience to find the perfect one. Plus, he's already an elite pass blocker and a superb receiver out of the backfield.
Dallas' superb offensive line could allow him to put up DeMarco Murray-like numbers, once again turning the Cowboys' offense into a legitimate multi-dimensional unit. Dez Bryant and Jason Witten have always been there to elevate the passing game. With an elite running back again, this offense will hit it's peak level.
2) Dominant offensive line
That beast of an offensive line was the best in the NFL for the past two years, and it only got better last year when they signed rookie La'el Collins. They were able to open up giant holes for running back and keep the pass rush away from the quarterback - the problem was those guys were Darren McFadden, Joseph Randle and Brandon Weeden/Matt Cassel/Kellen Moore instead of Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Romo.
The O-line's greatness will, in turn, allow Elliott and Romo to display their greatness - much to the dismay of the rest of the NFL.
1) Tony Romo's greatness
He's baaaaaaaaaaack!
Romo was limited to just four games in 2015 after breaking his clavicle twice, but had offseason surgery to make the bone stronger. In the season before his injury, Romo was one of the best quarterbacks in the league, passing for 3,705 yards with 34 touchdowns and just nine interceptions - while completing 70 percent of his passes.If Romo is anywhere near the form he was in 2014, the Cowboys still have a championship-caliber leader to follow.
