2014 NFL Draft: Dallas Cowboys Select Zack Martin

With the 16th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys have selected OT Zack Martin out of Notre Dame.

Position: Offensive Tackle

Measurables: 6’4”, 308 lbs, 32 7/8” arm length, 9 ½” hands

A two-time team captain for the Notre Dame, Zack Martin’s 52 career games with the Irish are the most in the program’s history. Martin’s durability is unquestionable as he started at left tackle for all 39 of Notre Dame’s games from 2011-13. Martin had a well-balanced outing at the NFL Combine, posting a 4.59 second time in the 20-yard shuttle along with benching 225 pounds 29 times.

Martin engages defenders without hesitation, quickly transitioning into solid blocking posture while rotating his hips to gain leverage. Martin is great with his hands, and he’s also very adept at both sealing off running lanes and combo blocking at the second level. Instinctually solid at reading and neutralizing blitzes, Martin has the athleticism to adapt to different looks both pre-snap and post-snap.
