Roy Hodgson, 76, squares up Sheffield United player Max Lowe, 26, in a touchline spat as Crystal Palace boss extends his record as the Premier League's oldest manager

Roy Hodgson showed there is still plenty of fight in football's most popular pensioner by having an unexpected jostling match with Sheffield United's Max Lowe during Crystal Palace's 1-0 win at Bramall Lane.

The flashpoint involving the 76-year-old Palace boss occurred after an hour when United's Lowe - 40 years his junior - ran over to try take a quick throw in front of the visitor's technical area.

When Hodgson kept the ball to delay his opponent, Lowe tried to forcibly grab it out of his hands, leading to the oldest Premier League boss to give him a shove in retaliation.
