Man United 'line-up two Premier League stars', including an England international, as plan B in case they fail with Bryan Mbeumo move

Manchester United have reportedly identified two players as possible alternatives for Bryan Mbeumo if they are unable to sign the Brentford forward.

After already sealing the £62.5million signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, Mbeumo emerged as United's top target this summer.

United have already lodged an offer to Brentford worth £55m for the 25-year-old Cameroon international, who scored 20 Premier League goals last season.

But Brentford rejected that bid as they value Mbeumo closer to £70m.

United now face the very real possibility of missing out on Mbeumo due to interest from Tottenham Hotspur, who can offer him Champions League football and the chance to continue working with former Brentford boss Thomas Frank.
