Lucien Favre's proposed appointment as Crystal Palace manager was thrown into doubt on Thursday night after the Swiss coach had second thoughts over taking the job.

The 63-year-old former Borussia Dortmund boss was widely expected to sign a three-year contract to succeed Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park after positive talks with chairman Steve Parish.

However, after taking more time to consider his decision, it is understood the vastly experienced Favre has reservations about the role and what is entailed.
