Ivory Coast hoping to convince Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi to SNUB England in favour of playing for the country of his birth - just like team-mate Wilfried Zaha - as he prepares to face them at Wembley tonight

Ivory Coast manager Patrice Beaumelle has revealed he plans to lure Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi away from England to represent the country of his birth.

Beaumelle said he was 'working' on persuading the highly-rated centre-back, who made his England debut in the friendly with Switzerland on Saturday, to play for the African nation.

The 21-year-old was born in Abidjan before moving to London when he was one, and is still eligible for Ivory Coast as he has only featured for England in a friendly so far.

Guehi could line-up against the country of his birth when England face Ivory Coast on Tuesday

Beaumelle said he would contact Guehi, who could line-up against Ivory Coast at Wembley on Tuesday, 'in the next few weeks' to gauge whether he would be interested in turning out for the Elephants.
