Crystal Palace keeper Jack Butland closes in on a free summer move to Rangers after lowering his wage demands... as his short-term loan stint at Man United draws to an end

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland is close to agreeing a move to Rangers after showing a willingness to fit into their wage structure.

The 30-year old, who is currently on loan at Manchester United as cover for David de Gea, was eager to play regular football again but initially his salary was deemed too expensive for Rangers.

The Scottish side had been scouting a number of alternatives as they did not anticipate reaching an agreement with the former England international.

However, knowing that Rangers manager Michael Beale really wanted him at Ibrox, Butland has agreed a compromise on his personal terms and is closing on a move north of the border.
