The 35-year-old is a free agent after cancelling his contract with Fluminense and Palace are keen to add cover for Wayne Hennessey.
The Premier League side have a deal lined up for Getafe's Vicente Guaita for the summer.
However, manager Roy Hodgson wants an option now and former Liverpool keeper Cavalieri may fit the bill.
Hodgson is hoping to add more depth to his squad with the Eagles looking to retain their status in the Premier League come the end of the season.
