ITV has denounced Joey Barton's comments as 'shameful' and 'contemptible' after he compared pundits Eni Aluko and Lucy Ward to serial killers Fred and Rose West.
Barton sparked fury on Friday morning after comparing Aluko and Lucy Ward, an ex-footballer turned commentator, to the Wests.
Aluko and Ward had covered Crystal Palace's 0-0 draw with Everton in the third round of the FA Cup on Thursday evening.
The Wests murdered 12 women and young girls over the course of 20 years in what became known as the Moors Murders.
