DES MOINES, Iowa – The Creighton women's tennis team picked up five victories during the opening day of competition at the Bulldog Classic inside the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
The Bluejays tallied a 3-0 mark in doubles play over Omaha, while picking up two wins during singles play against Drake on Friday.
Sophomore Valerie Negin collected the Bluejays first win of the afternoon by taking down Drake's Elizabete Klavinska in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, while junior Malvika Shukla also secured a singles win. After dropping the opening set to Drake's Mille Haagensen, 6-3, Shukla battled back to claim the second frame, 6-2.
