OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton women's basketball team scored early and often in a 95-71 win over the Friars on Friday afternoon at D.J. Sokol Arena. The start time was moved up to 4 p.m. local time to allow for the Friars to return home prior to an impending blizzard set to hit the Northeast.
Creighton (15-5, 10-2 BIG EAST) improved to 6-0 in BIG EAST home games ahead of Wednesday's showdown with league-leading Connecticut (12-4, 7-0 BIG EAST). Providence fell below the .500 mark and is 9-10 overall and 4-6 in league play.
The host Bluejays missed their first four shots before making 10 of its next 12 to close the first quarter with a 24-12 lead.
