Volleyball continues steady emergence

Creighton volleyball has become an emerging national powerhouse over the last three years.

In 2015, the Jays reached their first Sweet 16 after winning back-to-back Big East regular-season and tournament championships.

Creighton followed up with another Big East regular season and tournament championship, and advanced all the way to the Elite Eight for their most successful season to date.

Volleyball came to Creighton’s campus in 1994. The Jays went through years of playing at Omaha South High School’s gymnasium and hit rock bottom in 2002, when they won only three games. Athletic Director Bruce Rasmussen took a chance that next year and hired Kirsten Bernthal Booth to be the next head coach.
