OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton women's tennis freshman Valerie Negin earned BIG EAST Female Singles Player of the Week honors, the league announced on Thursday afternoon.
Negin posted a 2-0 record at the No. 2 singles slot to help the Bluejays to an 2-0 mark during their annual Spring Break trip to Orlando, Fla.
The Centennial, Colo. native claimed a 6-2, 6-4 straight-sets win over Providence's Julia Migliorini to help the Bluejays open BIG EAST play with a 5-1 win over the Friars. The freshman continued her winning ways with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over NC Wesleyan's Elisa Mariotti, as the Jays cruised to a 7-0 sweep of the Lady Bishops.
