OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton Baseball's Tommy Steier has been named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week after throwing five scoreless innings and picking up two saves as the Bluejays went 4-0 last week.
A junior from Elkhorn, Neb., Steier made three appearances last week, striking out four while allowing just two hits.
His week began when he earned a three inning save in Creighton's 3-2 win over in-state rival Nebraska, pitching around three Bluejay errors while he was in the game. He stranded the tying run at third base in the eighth inning and at second base in the ninth inning.
