OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton softball team dropped the series opener to Connecticut, 5-1, on Friday afternoon at the Creighton Sports Complex.
With the loss, the Bluejays fell to 18-25 on the season and 4-12 in BIG EAST play, while Connecticut improved to 29-11 overall and 16-3 in league action.
The Huskies jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning as leadoff hitting Lexi Hastings launched a solo home run out to straight away center field to give Connecticut a 1-0 lead.
Following back-to-back one, two, three innings, Connecticut added to its lead with a single run in the top of the fourth inning.
