OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton junior Shaun Campbell was named BIG EAST Men's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday, Oct., 5, after winning the Big O Classic on Tuesday.
Campbell had an eagle and four birdies in his first seven holes on Monday en route to a collegiate-low round of 66 that was tied for fourth-best in program history. The Tauranga, New Zealand native followed that with back-to-back rounds of even par (72) to hold off a field of 93 competitors with a wire-to-wire victory.
Campbell's victory is Creighton's ninth individual title in a tournament featuring three or more teams and 20 or more golfers in the past 20 years, but first in any event with more than 61 contestants.
