OMAHA, Neb. – Sven Koenig scored two goals as the No. 25 Creighton men's soccer team opened its BIG EAST schedule with a 3-0 shutout of Butler on Saturday night at Morrison Stadium in front of a crowd of 4,711 for Creighton's Homecoming.
The Bluejays improved to 4-1-1 and 1-0-0 in BIG EAST play, while the Bulldogs fell to 1-4-1 and 0-1-0 in league play.
Koenig scored Creighton's second goal of the match during the 51st minute, and added an insurance goal during the 74th.
In addition to Koenig's pair of goals, Ziyad Fares also found the back of the net to lift the Bluejays past the defending BIG EAST regular-season champions.
