OMAHA, Neb. – The No. 14 Creighton men's soccer team fell to No. 17 Virginia Tech 2-0 on Friday night at Morrison Stadium.
The Bluejays fell to 0-1-0, while the Hokies improved to1-0-0.
Creighton held a 9-3 advantage in shots and 7-1 edge in corner kicks during the first half, but Virginia Tech scored the lone goal during the opening 45 minutes.
During the 32nd minute, Rory Slevin sent a free box from about 25 yards out into the six-yard box where Collin Verfurth headed the ball past Bluejay goalkeeper Michael Kluver to give Virginia Tech a one-goal lead.
