OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton women's tennis senior Malvika Shukla was named the first BIG EAST Female Singles Player of the Week of the season, the league announced on Thursday afternoon.
The recognition comes after Shukla opened her 2024 spring season by becoming just the 20th Bluejay in program history to record 100 career wins. The Mumbia, India native overcame an early one set deficit to defect Wichita State's Xin Tong Wang in a three-set thriller.
After dropping her opening set to Wang, 6-4, Shukla responded with a 6-4 win of her own in the second frame, forcing a decisive third set.
