CHICAGO, Ill. -- Sophomore Katie Allen became Creighton's first women's golfer to win a tournament since 2005 as she led the Bluejays to a fourth-place finish at the Loyola Fall Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
Allen brought a four-shot lead into Tuesday's final round after opening with rounds of 72 and 74 for an even-par 146 total on Monday. She never surrendered the lead during the final round, holding off Kayla Krueger (Valparaiso) and Haeri Lee (Drake) after shooting a 78 on Tuesday, to become CU's first meet champion since Leigh Sutton won the 8th Annual Springlake Classic in March of 2005 (note: Celeste Gassman tied for first at the 2011 MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial, but lost in a playoff).
