OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton junior Katie Allen was named BIG EAST Golfer of the Week on Wednesday, Sept. 22, after a record-breaking performance to open the season at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational.
Allen tied for seventh place in a field of 93 competitors after rounds of 74, 73 and 70. Allen's 217 aggregate broke her own Creighton record for a 54-hole score by three shots. Her final-round 70 was the best score of her collegiate career and was her program-record fourth career round of par or better as a Bluejay.
As a team, Creighton finished seventh among 17 teams with an 889 total, which ranks a dozen shots better than any previous team score in history.
