Jays turn over ball, and second Big East game, to Marquette

A back-and-forth battle of the two BIG EAST Preseason Poll favorites came down to stronger offensive rebounding, turnovers and second-chance points for Marquette, as the No. 10 Golden Eagles handed No. 22 Creighton its second consecutive Big East loss, 72-67.

After a strong start on the road on Dec. 20, the tide turned as the Bluejays fought against Marquette’s stifling defense and aggressive offensive rebounding on the glass, falling to the Big East opponents and moving to 9-4 on the season.

The Bluejays got off to a hot start offensively, accumulating a 14-3 lead with 14:20 in the first half after three made three-pointers from senior forward Baylor Scheierman.
