Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton senior Evan Johnson pushed the number of 2019 Bluejays to seven reaching the professional ranks to seven as Johnson signed a free agent contract with the Seattle Mariners in early June. Johnson made his debut Seattle's short-season single A club, the Everett Aquasox on Monday, tossing three scoreless innings. Johnson gave up just one hit and struck out four on 57 pitches.
Johnson had a breakout 2019 for the Bluejays, going 9-2 in 17 appearances, including 14 starts. Johnson tossed a combined 77.1 innings, posting an impressive .197 opponents batting average.
