Kansas City, Mo. -- Powered by goals from junior Ansley Atkinson and sophomore Renée Pountney, the Creighton women's soccer team defeated Missouri State 2-1 in an exhibition match on Tuesday, August 10.
The Lady Bears took an early lead with a goal in the 17th minute, before Atkinson knotted the match at 1-1. Atkinson fielded a pass from junior Cristian Garriga in the 42nd minute, sending it to the back of the net.
The game-winning goal came from Pountney in the 50th minute via an unassisted goal.
Creighton opens the regular season on Thursday, August 19 at home against Montana.
