OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton's 1996 men's soccer team that reached the College Cup, Fabian Herbers and former men's basketball coach Dana Altman will be honored by the Omaha Sports Hall of Fame in April. The soccer team as well as Altman are part of the 10th class inducted into the Omaha Sports Hall of Fame, while Herbers will be honored as the Omaha Sportsman of the Year.
This year's 2016 Omaha Sports Hall of Fame class includes:
Dana Altman – Former Creighton basketball coach
Ron Kellogg – Omaha Northwest/Kansas basketball player
Jed Ortmeyer – Omaha Lancers/Michigan/NHL Hockey player
Alice Schmidt – Elkhorn/North Carolina/USA Olympic distance runner
Grant Simmons – Omaha Benson/Nebraska basketball player
Kerry Trotter – Omaha Creighton Prep/Marquette basketball player
1996 Creighton Soccer Team -- went 17-5-2 and advanced to program's first College Cup
The class will be inducted on April 21st at Scott Conference Center (6450 Pine Street) in Omaha.
