If you take things like twitter reaction seriously, the choice of Southern Miss to replace former head coach Todd Monken with Alcorn State head coach Jay Hopson is a tremendous success.
Hopson is not the grand slam hire that Chip Lindsey would have been, but he is a coach that has been successful after taking over a program in turmoil. An Alcorn State team that was near the bottom of the FCS when Hopson took over is now the back to back defending SWAC champions. Hopson is a coach that the Southern Miss faithful can see leading them for 10-15 years successfully.
