Georgia Southern snaps losing streak by thumping Coastal Carolina, 41-17

Georgia Southern got back to winning football against what looked like a helpless Coastal Carolina team on Saturday, handily defeating the Chanticleers by a score of 41-17.

On paper, this win looked like a textbook performance by Southern’s option offense, with Wesley Fields leading the way with 148 yards on a pair of scores and capping off a day that saw the Eagles rush for 409 yards as a team.

Looking at the final score, it is hard to believe this game was ever close. But with GS looking at a 10-3 deficit with 11:05 to go in the second quarter, Georgia Southern flipped the switch and scored 38 unanswered points to take a 41-10 lead before the Chants scored a garbage time touchdown that set the final score.
