With two weeks to prepare for a North Texas team that was 3-0 in conference play and fresh off a huge win over UTSA, FAU made their intentions known that the Owls are contenders for the Conference USA Championship too, as FAU scored on 11 straight possessions to beat North Texas 69-31.

FAU was flawless on offense in the first half in large part due to Jason Driskel. Driskel finished the first half going 18-of-27 for 237 yards and a touchdown, while adding 68 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Driskel was able to connect with six different receivers in the first half en route to leading the Owls to 41 points, the most points scored in a half in FAU history.
