The Appalachian State Mountaineers landed their first key commitment of the 2018 recruiting class with three star tight end Trey Ross’ verbal pledge via twitter on Sunday.

Ross became the third tight end of the 2018 class to commit to a Sun Belt school and makes his decision just two days after unranked tight end Luke Burnette announced his commitment to the Mountaineers.

Ross, from Randleman, North Carolina, chose Appalachian State over regional offers from East Carolina, Coastal Carolina and Charlotte. His offer sheet, currently nine teams long, also includes Colorado State and Air Force.

Ross finished with 21 receptions for 380 yards and two touchdowns in his junior year while making his living in the middle of the field.
