Houston has found their quarterback of the future, and his name is D’Eriq King. The quarterback turned wide receiver turned quarterback got his chance as the starting quarterback, and showed that he’s not letting go of that position.
King finished the game 15-for-21 for 330 yards and three scores. He also added 14 yards and one touchdown rushing, and looked poised throughout the game. It didn’t always look like Houston would dominate through the air, as the ground game started out on fire early. Duke Catalon and the Cougars marched down the field on their first drive, and it appeared that Houston would try to ease King’s way into the offense.
