Zack Steffen name MLS Player of the Month for May

“Zack says no” was a common theme for the month of May. The Columbus Crew SC goalkeeper was named Major League Soccer Player of the Month by members of the media on Wednesday afternoon. Steffen didn’t allow a goal during the month of May.

The Crew SC goalkeeper played an instrumental part in a record-breaking 512-minute shutout streak for Columbus, earning five consecutive clean sheets along the way. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Steffen’s current streak is the 10th-longest regular-season shutout streak in MLS history. During the month of May, Steffen registered 17 total saves in matches against the Seattle Sounders, Philadelphia Union, Chicago Fire, New England Revolution and Sporting Kansas City.
