Columbus Crew SC attacking midfielder Eduardo Sosa is expected to miss four to six weeks the club announced on Tuesday afternoon. Earlier in the day, the midfielder underwent a successful meniscectomy on his right knee. The operation was performed by in Columbus by team doctor Pete Edwards.
Sosa is in his first season with the Black & Gold. He was signed in early January from Zamora FC of the Venezuelan First Division where he played from 2013-2017, winning three league titles while making 59 appearances (38 starts) and scoring nine goals. The plan for Sosa was to be the primary backup to Federico Higuain and potentially grow into the starting attacking midfielder role as the veteran reaches the end of his career.
