Crew SC has signed free agent defender Corey Ashe, the club announced Friday.
Ashe, 29, has been in Major League Soccer for nine seasons, starting with the Houston Dynamo. Ashe played in Houston from his rookie season in 2007 until mid-way through the 2015 season, when he was traded to Orlando City FC.
“We would like to thank Corey for choosing Columbus Crew SC. He is a dynamic fullback who has played a big role on successful teams throughout his tenure in this league,” sporting director and coach Gregg Berhalter said. “He has won an MLS Cup, has played in two more and will provide veteran leadership and experience to our backline.
