According to Paul Tenorio of Four Four Two, Columbus Crew SC and homegrown captain Wil Trapp have agreed on a multi-year extension.
Less than one week after locking up winger Justin Meram to a multi-year extension using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM), Crew SC has reportedly finalized a similar contract extension with Trapp. Though Columbus has not officially announced Trapp’s extension, reports suggest a three or four year deal that may use TAM to significantly increase Trapp’s salary from the $178,250 he was paid in 2016.
During Trapp’s tenure with the Black & Gold there has been almost constant speculation as to when the Homegrown midfielder would make the jump to Europe, which intensified after reports that Trapp was in the process of obtaining a Greek passport.
