The United States Men’s National Team continued their 2019 unbeaten run against Ecuador last week off of a rather fortuitous goal by Columbus Crew SC striker Gyasi Zardes late in the match to give the team a 1-0 victory. The game was a rather defensive affair with Ecuador playing a rather defensive style, allowing USMNT to control possession and tempo throughout.
Head coach Gregg Berhalter has continued to make his mark on the National Team, implementing his system that is very familiar to fans in Columbus. The Ecuador match was their toughest test to date, as their CONMEBOL opponent seemed to be implementing a defensive style that they will play in this summer’s Copa America.
